You are who He says you are

Walking in truth starts with knowing who you are in Christ

There was a time when I didn’t know who I was.

I listened to the world. The enemy spoke lies to me and I became convinced that it was true.

I let my past define me. I was controlled by my insecurities.

I shaped my identity around what others expected of me — and it left me confused, broken, and constantly searching for ways to find myself .

But when I met Jesus — really met Him — everything changed.

Why Identity in Christ Is Everything

We live in a world that tries to label us with every name but the one that matters: daughter of God.

Culture tells us to define ourselves by our appearance, relationship status, achievements, or trauma.

Our past tries to name us with shame.

The enemy whispers lies that we’re not enough, not worthy, not lovable.

But God speaks something greater:

“You are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)

“You are chosen.” (1 Peter 2:9)

“You are made new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

When we don’t know who we are in Christ, we fall for false identities. But when we walk in the truth of who God says we are, we walk in freedom — not fear.

Rooted in Scripture: Who You Are in Him

  • You are a new creation — “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

  • You are God’s masterpiece — “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works…” – Ephesians 2:10

  • You are chosen and not forgotten — “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” – Jeremiah 1:5

  • You are no longer bound by your past — “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 8:1

So How Do We Live This Out? (Practical Steps)

  1. Renew Your Mind Daily

    • Start your day in the Word, not social media.

    • Replace lies with truth — write down scriptures about who you are and speak them out loud.

  2. Fast from False Labels

    • Pay attention to what you’re agreeing with: thoughts like “I’ll never change” or “I’m just broken” are not from God.

    • Journal: “What do I believe about myself that God never said?”

  3. Surround Yourself with Truth-Tellers

    • Find a sister circle rooted in the Word.

    • Listen to content (podcasts, worship music) that speaks identity and truth.

  4. Speak Life Over Yourself

    • Declare this: “I am who God says I am. I am not my past. I am not my pain. I am made by His design.”

  5. Stay in Relationship With God

    • Identity flows from intimacy. The more time you spend with Him, the more clearly you’ll see who you are.

Final Thoughts:

You don’t have to perform to be loved.

You don’t have to pretend to be enough.

You already are — in Him.

Walk boldly, sis.

Not in the name they gave you — but in the name He calls you by.

Loved. Whole. His.

Scripture to Meditate On This Week:

“But now, this is what the Lord says—He who created you, Jacob, He who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.’” — Isaiah 43:1.
